We are proud to launch our Specialist-Led Orthodontic Service, uniquely led by Dr. Ian Hutchinson, a highly respected and experienced Orthodontic Specialist. This offering is rare within the region, and we’re thrilled to make it available to your patients.

Ian brings a depth of expertise that few can match. After earning his dental degree from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne in 1991, Ian pursued extensive hospital-based training across multiple dental specialties, culminating in a Fellowship in Dental Surgery (RCS Edinburgh, 1994). He then completed his specialist orthodontic training at Bristol Dental Hospital, obtaining both a Master of Science in Orthodontics and his Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons in 1999.

His professional background includes owning and operating two successful specialist practices — Whitetree Specialist Centre in Bristol and The Smile Lounge in Chepstow — and publishing research in leading dental journals. Ian is also a trusted expert witness, bringing both academic and clinical credibility to the service. He is registered as a Specialist Orthodontist with the GDC and holds memberships in the British Orthodontic Society, British Dental Association, and British Lingual Orthodontic Society.

Working alongside Ian is Ehab Alkhalili, who joined Carriage Works Dental in 2025. A qualified dentist and orthodontist (Dnipro Medical Academy, Ukraine, 2004), Ehab has dedicated his career to oro-facial orthodontics, including leading a large private practice in Saudi Arabia. Since relocating to the UK, he has been practising as an Orthodontic Therapist while preparing to gain UK dental registration. His extensive experience and hands-on approach make him a valuable asset to our team.

Together, Ian and Ehab offer a collaborative, face-to-face approach to orthodontic treatment — a model that combines the precision of specialist oversight with the practicality and continuity of hands-on orthodontic therapy. This is a level of care rarely available outside of hospital settings, and we’re proud to offer it in a private practice environment.

This orthodontic experience is highly important when tooth alignment is used as part of a multidisciplinary approach to your patients care in order to correct and rehabilitate complex problems for optimal outcomes. Typically this may include oral surgery and implants, periodontal treatment and advanced prosthetics including bite correction and identifying TMJ issues.
