Exciting Opportunity for a Compassionate and Motivated NHS Dentist

Job Description:

Join Our Growing Team at Carriage Works Dental, Lostwithiel, Cornwall

Part-time | Tuesdays & Thursdays | Expected start: December 2026

At Carriage Works Dental, we pride ourselves on being much more than just a dental practice. We are an independent, forward-thinking practice with a close-knit team committed to providing exceptional, patient-focused care.

Based in the beautiful riverside town of Lostwithiel, Cornwall, we offer a warm and supportive working environment in a fantastic location, with excellent transport links and everything Cornwall has to offer on the doorstep.

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated NHS dentist to join us for two days per week – Tuesdays and Thursdays.

This is an excellent opportunity to provide high-quality general NHS dentistry while also having the opportunity to be involved in some of the innovative and rewarding work taking place within our practice.

About Us

A large, supportive team

Our diverse team includes 12 dentists, 4 hygienists/therapists and 29 support staff, all of whom share a commitment to delivering high-quality care and maintaining a positive and supportive atmosphere within the practice.

Collaboration and mentorship are at the heart of what we do. Whether you are an experienced clinician or at an earlier stage in your career, you will be joining a team where support, communication and professional development are genuinely valued.

Comprehensive care

We provide a wide range of dental services, including NHS and private general dentistry, as well as acting as a referral centre for more complex cases.

Our Dermaworks division also offers facial aesthetics and skincare treatments, further broadening the range of services available within the practice.

Making a Difference to NHS Dental Care

Having participated in an NHS pilot exploring new and more effective ways of delivering NHS dentistry, we are continuing this work through dedicated NHS stabilisation sessions for patients who do not currently have access to a dentist.

These sessions allow us to address urgent dental needs, stabilise oral health and provide much-needed care to patients who may otherwise struggle to access NHS dental services.

We also work alongside Smile Together to assess and treat children, providing timely intervention and treatment with the aim of avoiding the need for treatment under General Anaesthetic (GA) wherever possible.

In addition, we are extremely proud to be the only CASP (Cancer Action Support Practice) in the South West, supporting patients affected by Head & Neck cancer and helping them access appropriate dental care.

These services reflect our wider commitment to improving access to NHS dentistry and providing compassionate care to patients who need it most.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for an NHS dentist who can provide a full range of routine dental care and who shares our commitment to compassionate, patient-centred dentistry.

The ideal candidate will be:

  • Compassionate and patient-focused
  • Motivated to provide high-quality NHS dental care
  • A strong team player
  • Keen to develop professionally
  • Interested in contributing to improving access to NHS dentistry

This position would suit either an experienced dentist or a dentist at the beginning of their career. With a large and experienced clinical team around you, there is plenty of opportunity for support, collaboration and professional development.

Why Join Us?

Two consistent working days – Tuesday and Thursday

This is a two-day-per-week position, working Tuesdays and Thursdays, offering a predictable part-time working pattern.

Supportive team environment

At Carriage Works Dental, you will be part of a friendly and collaborative team that values mutual respect and professional development. Communication and teamwork are central to the way we deliver excellent patient care.

Interesting and rewarding NHS dentistry

Alongside routine NHS dentistry, you will be joining a practice involved in initiatives designed to improve access to dental care, including our NHS stabilisation sessions, our work with Smile Together and our role as a Cancer Action Support Practice.

Competitive remuneration and private opportunities

We offer a good UDA rate and competitive benefits, ensuring your work is recognised and rewarded. There are also opportunities to increase your earnings through private dentistry within our established patient base.

Continuous training and development

We believe professional development is an important part of a rewarding dental career and actively support our clinicians in developing their skills and expertise.

Whether through additional training, mentoring, conferences or further qualifications, we are committed to helping our team continue to grow professionally.

Beautiful location with excellent transport links

Lostwithiel is a charming and historic riverside town in the heart of Cornwall, offering an excellent balance between work and lifestyle.

The practice is approximately 200 metres from Lostwithiel railway station, with direct services on the mainline between Penzance and London. There are also convenient road links to Truro (approximately 25 miles) and Plymouth (approximately 32 miles).

It is an ideal location for anyone wanting to enjoy the lifestyle and beauty of Cornwall while remaining well connected.
